For those of you who suffer from sweaty feet, you will understand why I think this product is a godsend. While I wouldn't consider myself to suffer from severe hyperhydrosis, my feet (and other parts of my body, for that matter) do sweat quite a lot. And since I wear my work shoes for more than 12 hours a day, they (i.e., my shoes) tend to become smelly after a while. And since I wear the same smelly shoes to work every day, well, my feet also get smelly every day, despite proper hygiene and fresh nylons. It's a never-ending cycle, so to speak.
I have tried several "odour eliminating" insoles , such as Odor Eaters, and have found them to have a major flaw. They are simply too thick. When I insert these thicker insoles into my shoes, my shoes no longer fit. Therefore, I cannot say whether these other insoles were effective at eliminating odour, as I was never able to wear my shoes after inserting them.
In my quest for a thinner version of these "odour eliminating" insoles, I came across the Kiwi Select Fresh'ins Ultra Thin Shoe Inserts. They were relatively inexpensive - I purchased 2 packs on eBay for USD$5.99 per pack, plus shipping. Each pack contained 6 pairs and they are available in 4 different sizes (5/6, 7, 8, 9/10). As I am a size 7, I guess I am lucky as I have my own dedicted size (as opposed to those people who are size 5, 6, 9 or 10).
When I first ripped open the package containing the insoles, I noticed a pleasant scent, noticeable yet not overpowering. Then, I noticed that they were not cheap, 1-layer insoles, which I thought would be the case based on their relatively inexpensive price tag. In fact, they were 6-layer insoles! Despite having 6 layers, the thickness of each insole was only approximately 1mm (yes, I measured them). Definitely thinner than the Odor Eaters, which were approximately 2mm thick (yes, I measured those too). And the final test (for now) was how they fit into my shoes. I placed them into my work shoes (almond toe 3" pumps) and they were practically a perfect fit!!! I was very surprised by this as I was used to the other insoles' "trim to fit" sizing, which I thought was just horrible, cause even after the trimming (and trimming and trimming), they never fit quite right. Then, I placed a second pair of Fresh'ins into my ballerina flats and voila! they fit almost perfectly as well! Let me tell you, I was one happy gal.
According to the package, each pair of Fresh'ins were designed to last upto 5 days under "normal" usage, and this could be longer or shorter depending on personal usage. Stay tuned as I will post an update after my first trial-"run" of the Fresh'ins!
